Welcome to Western Springs Lacrosse - 2010

 

 

For 2010, the Western Springs Lacrosse Program is entering its eleventh year of teaching boys and girls the centuries-old game of lacrosse.  Last year, over 300 boys and girls played in the various programs and leagues.  The focus of this program is to teach sound lacrosse fundamentals and practice good sportsmanship in an environment where everybody plays.



2010 SPRING REGISTRATION

If you were unable to make it to our registration days, there is still time to register for Western Springs lacrosse. Please print out registration form, emergency form and player/parent commitment form below and see instructions below for registering.

Volunteer info  -  everyone is required to volunteer or pay the volunteer buyout fee of $25.00 – If you choose the  volunteer buy out the code # on the registration form is 220245 N.  If volunteering, please write the position you are signing up for on your registration form.  See below for volunteer positions still available.

House league 5/6th and 7/8th are due April 1st -  Late fee after April 1st is $50.00

Introduction to Lacrosse  for boys and girls are due by April 1st – Late fee after April 1st is $25.00

Girls Grades 3thru 8 are due by April 12th – Late fee after April 12th is $20.00

Travel league 5th thru 8th are due by March 1st – Late fee after March 1st is $50.00. Since we are starting practices end of January we highly advise  that you register before the end of January. Uniforms will be ordered end of January and coaches would like the kids to work together at practices as much as possible.

    Setup – pick up food start grill set up volleyball net and organize food.

    Clean up – take down volleyball net, clean up grill, clean field and garbage, put away food.

Registration for Girls Intro to Lacrosse Grades 1st and 2nd and Girls House League Grades 3 thru 8 can be done starting Jan 4, 2010 by completing registration form and either mailing or returning the form to Western Springs Recreation Department, 1500 Walker Street, Western Springs Il. 60558 or faxing to 708-246-9070.  

  • Coaching Clinic for Volunteer Boys Lacrosse Coaches March 7th from 11- 1pm\

  •  April 7th Lax Face Off 6pm – 7pm at the Western Springs Recreation Center for Boys 5th -8th grade House League. Uniform distribution, info, meet the coaches.

  • Season Dates for Boys Grades 5th thru 8th – April 8th – June 6th

  • Season Dates for Boys Grades 1st thru 4th and Girls 1st and 2nd - April 11th – June 6th

WINTER LACROSSE INDOOR TRAINING
held at Velocity Sports Performance, 7051 S. Adams, Willowbrook, IL 60527

 

Western Springs Recreation Lacrosse has teamed up with Velocity Sports to provide a new program combining speed and agility training with Lacrosse drills.

 

Age appropriate agility and coordination exercises taught by Western Springs and Velocity coaches will be combined with fun and challenging Lacrosse drills designed to improve every aspect of your game.

 

Session 2 - Sunday, Jan 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, Feb 7th, and 14th

 

1:00-2:30      1st thru 4th grade

2:30-4:00      5/6th  grade

4:00-5:30      7/8th grade

 

Fee: $110.00

  • Click here for the inclement weather policy for lacrosse.

  • Practice/game cancellations will be posted on the hotline as soon as the decision has been made for a cancellation, optimally 1 1/2  hours before the scheduled start time.  

  • Cancellations will occur for the following conditions:  thunder/lightning, pouring rain, poor field conditions (standing water, excessive mud).  Poor field conditions may result from continued/excessive rainfall.  It is best to check the hotline if we experience a wet spring. 

  • Cancellation during practice: If a storm or  thunder/lightning arise during practice, we need to get the kids off the field immediately.  Parents, please keep abreast of weather conditions, and plan appropriately.
